When you have downloaded the plugin, just install it in the usual way, by selecting Plugins > Add New. You can then upload the plugin and activate it. there will now be a new default greeting. If you do nothing else, the default greeting will be “Welcome”. However, you can set your own greeting, using the Options Page.
The Options Page for the plugin will appear in the Settings section, so select Settings > OCWS Admin Greeting. Simply type in the required greeting, taking care with capital letters, and hit the Save Changes button. Your new greeting will be saved.
The plugin probably still needs a few tweaks, so please report any bugs to me. Instead of downloading the plugin from the link above, you may prefer to download it from the GitHub Repository at https://github.com/pftaylor61/ocws-admin-bar-greeting
You can use the comments section on this page to ask questions or get support. I will visit here frequently. Please report on bugs and problems or any other issues. Advice is also welcome!
Frequently Asked Questions
What future development will there be on this plugin?
I will do some further work, even though it is meant to be asimple plugin. That is because i have used it to learn how to get plugins to work. My main goal next is to find a way of making a sort-of ‘framework’ plugin, so that I can use a general top-leveol options page for all my plugins. I need to find out how to get a second plugin to notice whether a previous plugin had been installed and activated, so that the top-level menu already exists. If you know how to do this, please contact me: info(at)oldcastleweb.com.
